Duties:

Under general supervision; to create and maintain core County land information Datasets (Enterprise Address, Routable Centerline, Cadastral, Topographic/Planimetric); Land Information Program (LIP) Data Distribution and Support Services (non-core projects, support calls and problem fixes); to develop and maintain County enterprise GIS IT applications and services (website, desktop, network); to follow up on concerns and resolve issues and communicate project progress to client organizations; to generate reports and develop presentations as part of GIS projects, demonstrations and exhibitions and perform such other duties as may be assigned. 

 

Education:

Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an approved college or university in cartography, geography, geology, urban planning, or computer science is required. Coursework in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is required. Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver’s license at time of filing application and maintained during incumbency is required. Possession of a master’s degree in cartography, geography, geology, urban planning, or computer science is preferred. 

 

Experience:

Two (2) years of experience analyzing and manipulating GIS spacial and related data utilizing GIS software products in direct support of critical business requirements is required. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of GIS technology and GIS administration software; Knowledge of analysis and production within an Enterprise GIS Environment; knowledge of data conversion using vendor specific source and/or target formats; knowledge of Public Land Survey System (PLSS), orthophotography and standard mapping principles; knowledge of metadata standards; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; ability to perform spatially derived statistical analysis; ability to utilize heterogeneous source and information(surveys, maps, land descriptions, classifications, etc); written and oral communication skills; ability to generate reports and present information; and ability to work effectively with others.
