Job Accountabilities:
Defines requirements for GIS applications and data. Works with information technology to ensure proper understanding of business requirements, GIS system design requirements, and data conversion methods.
Creates documents showing business processes, data flows, and system designs. Analyzes data and develops spreadsheets, flow charts, and descriptive documents and diagrams.
Responsible for maintaining system administration tables used to support GIS applications and interfaces to other systems including work management, outage management, and others.
Assists in evaluating options and developing technical requirements needed to create new applications using AM/FM/GIS data.
Prepares written specifications to support data conversion methods, and computer system development and enhancement.
Uses various GIS and data retrieval tools (e.g. Infomaker, Easytrieve, SAS, SQL, etc.) to create custom maps and reports as required.
Performs acceptance and operational testing to ensure all acceptance criteria, business requirements and system requirements have been met. This may include preparing test plans, performing tests, maintaining test documentation and following up to ensure that errors are fixed in a timely manner.
Works with users to identify and resolve system and data problems.
Participates in the planning and coordination activities for projects.
Assists in planning and performing training as required.

Job Qualifications:
Education or experience equivalent to a two year technical degree from an accredited college or university, with emphasis in engineering technology, computer science, geographic information systems, or related area preferred.
A minimum of two years technical and/or professional experience, with a minimum of one year experience in designing and testing computer systems, and a minimum of one year working with geographic information systems and automated mapping and facilities management systems.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management), including report writing tools, with Infomaker preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of relational database concepts.
Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
