Description:
Under general supervision, performs geographic information system activities for the Illinois Coastal Zone Program; utilizes GIS hardware and software to create maps and spatial analysis reports; creates/obtains databases to assist end users. Gathers, analyzes and integrates spatial data; updates current raster and vector data sets as well as loads new data sets from a variety of sources. Creates/obtains and maintains GIS databases; coordinates and implements GIS activities. Coordinates locally with resource specialists and IT staff to identify GIS hardware and processing needs. Provides technical user support for all aspects of geo-spatial data and software. Assists with developing and implementing policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college with a minimum of 20 semester hours from the related academic disciplines of geography, GIS technology, cartography and computer science. Requires completion of an agency sponsored training program or one year of professional experience in GIS.
