GIS Analyst I

General Purpose

• Develops, analyzes, controls and defends Geographic Information System (GIS) data and mapping products. Provides leadership in project development and processes to ensure GIS data and permitting and licensing tasks are on-track, timely data integrity protocols are followed.
• Ensure operational standards are met, data interfaces are effective and data integrity is not compromised.
• Assists in the development and implementation of training programs to ensure effective use of systems and related processes.
• Ensures that system specifications and interfaces are documented and maintained.
• Requires excellent written and interpersonal, professional, and public communication skills to establish and maintain positive professional credibility and working relationships, and analyze and defend data in seeking permitting and licensing of projects, including presenting before agencies, non-governmental organizations and the general public.

Required Skills

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, or other natural sciences plus GIS Minor or certification.

Experience:

• Four or more years of experience working in GIS with demonstrated ability to complete complex projects and tasks with increased responsibility.

Special Requirements:

• Strong Information Technology skills required. Potential candidates must possess proficiency in the following areas:
• desktop productivity tools (MS Word, Access, Excel, etc.),
• database management systems, and ESRI’s ArcGIS software suite.
