This position requires the incumbent to coordinate operational aspects of military training, maneuver, combined arms, and safety requirements with natural resources, land and air, as well as infrastructure assets.

Duties:

  • Perform Geographic Information Systems analysis
  • Provide geospatial analysis
  • Manage Geographic Information Systems and Global Positioning Systems software, hardware, and associated tools
  • Manipulate range operations computer systems
  • Apply knowledge of regulations to a Sustainable Range Program

Qualifications Required:

To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level GS-11 in the Federal service or equivalent pay band. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves coordinating operational aspects of military training, maneuver, combined arms, and safety requirements with natural resources, land and air, as well as infrastructure assets.

The geographer position has specific educational requirements which apply to all positions.

Successful completion of a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree in geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields. OR

Combination of education and experience – courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
