GIS Technician

Summary

Performs work of considerable technical difficulty.   Specializes in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), land records database development, and mapping. Assists the GIS/LIO Coordinator in implementing the County Land Records Modernization Plan . Helps develop GIS capabilities among departments, agencies, municipalities and the public.

Essential Duties

• Collects and maintains GIS databases, land records and maps.
• Develops and maintains the GIS web site.
• Assists the GIS/LIO Coordinator with implementing the Land Records Modernization Plan.
• Provides support and training for staff across a number of County departments.
• Develops and maintains project documentation and metadata.
• Creates new and modifies existing GIS data using GIS editing processes.
• Performs quality control procedures to ensure GIS database integrity.
• Develops and maintains databases and spreadsheets.
• Completes GIS analyses with custom maps and reports as needed.
• Performs related functions as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree with GIS experience and knowledge in information technology; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
