Job Duties:
The IS Supervisor 2 is responsible for the overall management of professional information technology (IT) project leaders and staff working on IT projects or supporting modal application systems. The incumbent will be responsible for directing and managing staff in relation to the acquisition, research, planning, development, management, design, testing and implementation of complex IT projects.
Staff in the unit provides technical consulting support using GIS tools, applications and related systems such as Arc/GIS, Arc/SDE, Arc/ IMS, Arc/ INFO, and Arc/VIEW. This unit is responsible for GIS applications and systems development consulting, standards creation and best practices identification, all within a shared hosting environment. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for supervising the support of the work unit that is responsible for supporting spatial tools and applications for the entire department. The focus of the work unit is primarily on development and implementation, as well as insuring approriate and standard delivery of desktop PC code to support the needs of the department. This will require working with other units and combining resources to achieve a variety of goals and complete a number of specialized projects.
This position directs and manages assigned staff and project teams and effectively negotiates timelines or other project concerns jointly with other supervisors, division leadership, and fellow DOT staff. Other duties include assessing portfolio candidate projects and providing workload estimates, and they will be responsible for developing budget estimates and recommendations.
