GIS Programmer Analyst I

General Purpose

• Leads the development and support of company Geographic Information System (GIS) applications, interfaces, special projects, and studies through:
• Geospatial data analysis
• Requirements analysis
• Geospatial application and interface design, development, modification and problem resolution
• Data extraction and manipulation
• Scripting and model building
• Collaboration with Engineering, ITS, and others.
• Manages and coordinates GIS-related projects.
• Leads troubleshooting of technical GIS issues, determining the source of problems and resolving them.
• Provides training and support to all levels of GIS users.
• Supports and enhances the full range of standard and ad hoc map products, as needed.
• Demonstrates and works to enhance:
• A high level of technical expertise with GIS technology,
• The ability to effectively manage multiple projects and consistently complete work on time,
• Excellent communication, presentation and teaching skills.

Required Skills
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in any of the following: information technology, computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering, engineering or another technical field of study.

Required Experience
This position requires one to three years of GIS experience, including: programming and scripting within a GIS environment, with demonstrated ability to handle complex tasks and increasing responsibility.

The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated and possess the ability to apply GIS technology to deliver effective solutions for our people and processes. The ideal candidate will possess experience in at least some of the following:

• Experience with GIS at an electric utility. ESRI GIS experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ESRI’s ArcObjects data model.
• Working familiarity with Telvent’s ArcFM Solution.
• Proficiency with C# and Python.
• Knowledge of database management systems & SQL,
• Web Application Development
