Job Description: This position will provide Wisconsin Wetland Inventory technical support by extracting wetland boundary information using both Orthomapper and ArcGIS software and creating polygon and point layers for the Wisconsin Wetland Inventory (WWI) digital database. The position will also integrate formatted attribute data into ARC coverages using various RDMS packages. The position reports to the Waterways and Wetlands Section in the Bureau of Watershed Management.
40% – Create digital orthophotography using Orthomapper software. Extract wetland boundary information using both Orthomapper and ArcGIS software.
40% – Create polygon and point layers for the WWI digital database. Integrate formatted attribute data into ARC coverages using various RDMS packages. Assemble multiple map sheets into project databases.
10% – Evaluate output and perform quality assurance review using ArcGIS. Review classification codes for errors and make necessary corrections.
10% – Generate wetland acreage reports on a township and county basis. Maintain currency of wetland acreage reports by incorporating revisions and updates as they occur.
Knowledge Required: Must have experience using ArcMap or ArcInfo software and working knowledge of ArcInfo data structures and processes. Applicant must understand how to create topology using ArcGIS software. Experience using Orthomapper or ERDAS software and a working knowledge of the WWI is highly desirable.
