The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) is currently looking to fill its IS Systems Development Services Specialist – GIS Server Infrastructure Administrator position within their Division of Business Management/Bureau of Information Technology Services/GIS Unit.  This position is located at the Hill Farms building on the west side of Madison.  For more information about DOT visit our website at: http://dot.wi.gov.

Job Duties:   

This senior technical leadership position is responsible for the integration and connectivity of very complex, disparate distributed GIS facilities that involve multiple hardware and software platforms, multiple development environments and tools, and advanced, emerging technologies and architectures in areas such as ArcGIS Server, GIS application servers and ArcIMS.  This position will coordinate development of distributed architectures and definitions for all major GIS systems throughout the company.  Serving as a consultant the position will provide direction and coordination to senior application development project leaders in the architecture of systems using distributed GIS methodologies and toolsets.

Knowledge and skill working with professional IT staff on complex IT projects

 

Experience planning, implementing and maintaining new technologies and services for GIS infrastructure

 

Advanced coordination and communication skills

 

Advanced technical expertise in the use of GIS tools

 

Expert skills in problem resolution, strategic planning, and technical support

 

Skills to maintain and improve GIS application development facilities, and tools such as development utilities, productivity tools, performance testing, source code management and staging tools
