We currently have an opportunity for an environmental professional with strong Geographical Information Systems skills to join our Madison office.
The Position
Responsibilities will include working with senior GIS Analysts and independently to provide GIS mapping and analysis and relational database management support on energy projects, including wind and solar. From cartographic perspective, these will include the implementation of a variety of complex labeling schemes, map overlays, and map layout. On the GIS analysis side, responsibilities will include a wide range of spatial analysis operations, coordinate system management, data creation and data integration from a variety of RDBMS and other data warehouses. Database support will include data entry, data validation, and report generation.
Requirements
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in geography, engineering, or a related field, along with 1 to 5 years demonstrated experience in using GIS products in an analytical environment. Candidates should possess: proficiency using ESRI’s ArcGIS for Desktop; Geoprocessing and Model Builder; knowledge of relational database principles and design; knowledge of coordinates systems and map projections. Candidates should also possess excellent communication and writing skills, and be able to work with engineering, construction, and CADD support staff to accomplish project objectives. Knowledge of ArcGIS for Server, web map and general web development, SQL programming and Python scripting are desirable. Candidates will be expected to work independently and take assignments and complete them, with minimal mentoring and in an efficient and accurate manner.
