The SCO has a new project position to assist with the Enhanced Broadband Mapping (EBM) initiative.  This is a grant funded position, scheduled to end September 10, 2014. However, the position may be extended or become renewable depending on future funding.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Geography or closely-related field required, including relevant coursework in GIS. Work experience in GIS may be substituted for coursework in some cases. 

Minimum one year hands-on experience with GIS data development project(s). Ideal candidate will have experience with project coordination/project management. Ideal candidate will have direct experience with address and/or parcel data models, standards, data, and processing methods.

Principal duties

  • Research and develop new processing procedures to aggregate disparate digital Geographic Information System (GIS) data from multiple sources, and produce new information products. This includes researching best practices, data models, standards, and documenting final products with appropriate metadata. (75%)
  • Document and maintain web site content, and develop PR materials. (10%)
  • Develop and implement professional training and presentations on selected technical topics, both at conferences and on events around the state, primarily for geospatial professionals. (10%)
  • Work with other project team members to develop, implement and maintain a project plan. (5%)
