An employee in this position performs routine and entry level technical geographic information systems work. Employees in this position generally are persons pursuing higher education and require internship experience as a supplement to formal course work. Position could extend beyond a summer internship, depending on candidate availability and Village operational needs.
Work will include creating and editing features in a SQL-Server based geodatabase; scanning and linking documents to map features; updating Flex and Javascript-based ArcGIS Server applications. Projects will involve computer data entry; reading and interpreting various maps, plats, legal documents and engineering plans. Some field work required.
Applicants must have an understanding of the principles behind GIS, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and relational databases. Experience with ArcGIS and familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite required. Experience with Flex/ActionScipt, Javascript, and programming concepts along with coursework in Geography, GIS or Computer Science is preferred.
Starting rate of pay is $9.00 + / hour (depending on experience). Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid drivers license and safe driving record.
