The Department of Administration, Division of Enterprise Technology, Geographic Information Office (GIO) is looking for a qualified and motivated individual to work with staff and stakeholders in the design, development, and operation of solutions involving repository and geoportal services.
Internship work will focus on projects related to authoritative stakeholder data and metadata; evaluating solutions to meet business requirements for geospatial information discoveries and access. As a member of the DOA Repository / Geoportal Project team, the intern will participate in all project meetings; assist in investigations, testing, and assist with documentation resulting in implemented services. The intern may also assist in the design and development of map products for state agency customers.
A solid understanding of the following will be important for the intern:
- Logical data models
- Spatial database development
- Spatial database management
- GIS metadata
- Communications
Experience with development of GIS data and services, and typical project management tools, will also be beneficial. These might include:
- ESRI ArcGIS products
- MS-Office products
Intern work hours are flexible, but must be determined with manager prior to employment. Full time in summer and part time during the school year is a manageable option if desired.
