Job Summary:

This position will provide project support to research conducted in the Forest and Landscape Ecology Lab in the Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology at UW-Madison. This position will coordinate a large-scale digitizing effort of historical vegetation maps. The incumbent will serve as the lead technical person using spatial data and GIS software, develop protocols, and perform quality control checks for other project assistants.

Requirements:

B.S. with GIS emphasis in forestry, ecology, geography, environmental studies, or related field. M.S. preferred. Broad experience with the development and management of GIS data using ESRI ArcGIS products is required. Strong project management skills required, including experience with MS Access. Experience with GIS programming (Visual basic, Python), and statistics (including spatial statistics), is highly desirable.

Maximum 35 hours per week from May through December 2014, with possibility of continuing part time.
