Job Description:

80% Design and build the streams and rivers (including Great Lakes tributaries, warmwater rivers, trout streams and warmwater stream sportfish) regulations GIS layers. Work with others to develop and evaluate appropriate mapping tools and databases for these GIS layers and user interfaces.

20% Work independently and with others to evaluate, modify and improve the trout classification GIS layer, as well as other species distribution GIS layers.

Knowledge Required:

Knowledge of fisheries management principles. Knowledge of databases, preferably experience using Oracle. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Must be proficient in ArcView, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and use of e-mail. Knowledge of Geocortex an asset.

Note: this position is classified as a Fisheries Biologist on the DNR Website, but the duties are primarily GIS-related.
