GIS Analyst

Introduction 

The Legislative Technology Services Bureau (LTSB) provides leading-edge information technology services and support to the Wisconsin Legislature. LTSB is a nonpartisan legislative service agency located on the Capitol Square in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. We provide a fast-paced and cooperative atmosphere with many opportunities for professional growth. 

LTSB is currently accepting applications for a skilled and enthusiastic GIS Analyst to join the GIS Team to create and deliver GIS products including maps, data, and reports to our customers in a timely manner. Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications. 

Position Description 

This position requires strong customer service skills to work with LTSB staff, legislators, legislative staff, local officials, other state and federal agencies, and the general public. We are interested in candidates who have the desire to teach basic GIS skills to our users and who are enthusiastic about creating maps, analyzing GIS data, working with legislative staff and legislative agencies, and troubleshooting GIS hardware and software. This position will report primarily to the GIS Manager and is considered an entry-level position. 

Knowledge/Experience Required

• Degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field  1-2 years of experience using GIS software and data (preferably ESRI products)  Excellent customer service skills
• Capability to work independently and on a team
• Ability to work in a non-partisan environment  Ability to work under deadlines
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

 Knowledge/Experience Desired

• Aptitude and/or experience with U.S. Census Bureau data
• Aptitude and/or experience with GIS web and application development
• Work occasional nights and weekends (on-call)
