Essential Job Functions:
1. Support the management of the City’s GIS data infrastructure.
a) Assist GIS Specialist with data entry and maintenance of spatial and attribute data sets associated with the City’s GIS.
b) Collect field data using GPS equipment.
2. Work with GIS and non-GIS software systems that support Public Works and Parks and Recreation Departments.
a) Create maps, maintain data, prompt response to inquiries, provide technical assistance to users in the City, with an emphasis on Public Works and Parks and Recreation.
3. Map development, maintenance and production.
a) A wide array of standard City maps are kept up-to-date and are readily available for all users
b) Custom map development requests are completed promptly.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive and respectful relationships with co-workers and member of the public.
Assumes additional accountabilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Graduation from high school or GED with additional training or experience in the operation of ArcView, ArcInfo, AutoCAD.
2. Two years of training or experience in GIS or related field.
3. Possession and ability to maintain a valid, unrestricted Minnesota driver’s license.
4. Clean background check.
Desired qualifications
1. Bachelors degree in Geographic Information Systems, or related field.
2. Experience with ArcInfo, ArcView, AutoCAD and Microsoft Windows applications.
3. One to two years of experience in coordination and development of Municipal GIS programs.
