Overview:

The current vacancy is responsible for the coordination, review, and modification of all State Trunk Highway System access control for the most urbanized transportation region in the State. This position reviews land divisions and access management of major developments, land use/zoning plans and access modifications.

The essential functions for this position are to review land subdivision plats abutting State Trunk Highways and insure implementation of access management principles. This requires on a regular basis, reading and math comprehension and technical writing skills; working with various local officials, developers and engineering consultants; and reviewing site plans, subdivision plats and right of way plats.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of access control statutes and authority and of the principles and applications and techniques of access control
  • Knowledge of policies, practices and procedures necessary to permit access onto the state trunk highway system
  • Working knowledge of the legal land description system
  • Ability to perform title searches
  • Extensive ability to identify corporate boundary locations and to read and interpret certified survey maps and subdivision plats
  • Working ability to interpret and write legal property descriptions
  • Working knowledge of Chapter 236, of the State Statutes and Administrative Rules regarding land divisions
  • Working ability to interpret and extract information from highway plans, specifications estimates and reports
  • Working ability to interpret and use data from multiple databases
  • Extensive ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Working ability to efficiently interpret and follow maps and map directions
