Position Description:
Ability to provide training in fundamentals of geography ex: cartographic map design; map reading and interpretation of CSMs (Certified Survey Maps), topographic maps, plat-books, legal descriptions, COGO (Coordinate Geometry); and map and compass/GPS. Ability to use standard office software with thorough understanding of databases. Must possess a GIS Bachelor’s Degree including coursework in DGPS and databases, ex: Civil Engineering, Cartography, and Geography. Master’s degree preferred. Knowledge of the theory and application of remote sensing, photogrammetry, DGPS, GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) and land surveying as it pertains to GIS.
Education and experience:
The candidate should exhibit strong capabilities in the development of various GIS projects. Supervisory Management technical training. Must have 3-5 experience using GIS, CAD (Computer Aided Drafting), DGPS, and IMS (Internet Map Server) software, and more than three years HTML (create and maintain web sites) & Visual Basic programming experience. Valid driver’s license, transportation, and insurance are nessesary.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office work. Fieldwork requires navigating rough terrain in different weather conditions while wearing a 10-pound DGPS backpack.
