Job Description

Seeking GIS operator candidates to perform a wide variety of geographic information systems support to the LaCrosse Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office staff. Typical duties will include:

  • Provide support in photo interpretation, remote sensing, digitization, and aquatic data acquisition
  • Develop and maintain aquatic related biological and physical habitat databases
  • Transfer fish and wildlife field recorded observations into a spatial environment
  • Perform basic spatial analysis and develop aquatic connectivity models to guide fish passage work in target watersheds 
  • Create maps and graphs for use by office staff.
  • Assist in evaluation of biological responses from management actions
  • Prepare metadata and other pertinent documentation.

 

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Biology, Geography, or similar field with an emphasis on Fish and Wildlife, Aquatics, or Natural Resource Management
  • Minimum of one year GIS experience
  • Must be proficient in using various software to include ARC GIS (v9.3-10.2.1) and other ESRI products, Microsoft Office programs (especially Access), and Program R.
