Are you our next Agronomy Information Lead?
We are currently seeking an Agronomy Information Lead for our Plymouth, MN location. The Agronomy Information Lead is responsible for managing the global agronomy research database. This position analyzes agronomic and business data using GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and collaborates cross-functionally with the Commercial, Sales and Marketing teams to create value that drives the future growth of Mosaic products. This person supports New Product Development and Agronomy initiatives to enable Mosaic portfolio of premium products growth.

What will you do?

  • This person will collaborate with Marketing, Product Management, and Sales on market development projects. The Agronomy Information Lead will work with key strategic partners and Mosaic customers for development and implementation of agronomic research trials and demonstration plots to illustrate the value of Mosaic premium products. He or she will be responsible for incorporating IT and GIS tools into market and customer assessments.
  • The candidate will lead GIS activities for the commercial teams and provide expertise in creating, analyzing, and interpreting GIS data and provide support and recommendations to other functional teams using GIS. This includes but is not limited to using geographic information to identify future potential markets for strategic growth of Mosaic products, understanding product performance across the landscape, and dissemination of Phosphorous and Potassium market analysis.
  • The Agronomy Information Lead is responsible for coordinating with New Product Development (NPD) and Global Agronomy team members to ensure all research data is archived in the Global Agronomy Database (GAD). This person will develop best management practices that ensure research data is collected, standardized, and formatted for implementation in the GAD. He or she is responsible for conducting analysis, developing reports, and communicating results to key stakeholders. The successful candidate will collaborate with IT on continuous improvement of GAD and implement new and innovative technologies that improve the performance of the GAD.
  • The Agronomy Information Lead will work collaboratively with NPD team in the Stage-gate process and lead at least one Stage-gate projects. The candidate is responsible for management of all Mosaic Stage-gate documentation, development of best practices and new support tools for Stage-gate across all of Mosaic.

What do you need for this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Agronomy, Plant and/or Soil Science, Environmental Science, Ag Engineering or related fields of study required. Master’s or Ph.D. with an emphasis of Soil Fertility/Soil Science or Crop Nutrition preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of Agronomy experience and GIS experience with Bachelor’s Degree. For candidates with a Master’s Degree, 0 years of experience is required.
  • Certified Crop Advisor preferred.
  • Broad understanding of crop production systems in North and South America.
  • Experience supporting new product development preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Project).
  • Proficiency with GIS and Remote Sensing software packages.
  • Experience with precision agriculture controllers, global positioning systems, and crop yield monitoring systems software programs.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce.com preferred.
  • Proficiency with databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and writing SQL (structured query language) preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent presentation, facilitation and listening skills.

  • Ability to interpret and understand basic statistics in evaluating small plot an don farm research trials data preferred.
  • Ability to effectively translate data into market related information preferred.
