Summary

A full-time position within Green County’s Land Information Office to provide support and expertise in the development and maintenance of the County Geographic Information System (GIS) and all data, software and hardware maintained by the Land Information Office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

– Use Esri software to create and maintain County GIS data and maps for tax parcel boundaries, property addressing, zoning, E911 dispatch and other needs defined by all County departments.
– Act as a resource to all Green County departments to evaluate and develop uses for GIS and continue its growth and use to benefit the County and its citizens.
– Provides training, assistance and support for County GIS and software for other County GIS users and general public users of the County’s interactive Mapping Application.
– Assists the general public and County Departments with mapping inquiries, land records research, and the preparation of parcel and survey record information requests.
– Assist the County Land Information Officer with administration and management including, but not limited to updating the Land Records plan, developing standards and annual budgeting.
– Troubleshoot minor hardware and software problems, including, but not limited to plotter paper and ink replacement and software installation, upgrades and license management.
– Review and update the duties and responsibilities described above to align with industry changes and technology advancements.
– And such duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

– Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Surveying, Computer Science or a related field.
– Minimum of one year of experience in computerized mapping and data development.
– Considerable knowledge of Esri software products, particularly ArcGIS Desktop is mandatory.
– Ability to read and understand property legal descriptions is mandatory.
– Experience with mapping grade GPS and data collection software is preferred.
– Ability to troubleshoot common hardware and software problems is preferred.
– Knowledge of Database administration using Microsoft SQL Server is preferred.
– Experience working in a County government offices is a plus.
– Knowledge of ArcGIS Server and web mapping services and applications is a plus.
– Understanding of how to automate tasks with Python and other scripting languages is a plus.
