POSITION SUMMARY:

The GIS Conservation Intern participates in conservation data and database, maintenance and management.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintains and populates spatial and tabular databases and manual filesProduces maps and/or other graphic products and reportsMaintains GIS library and/or database products library

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE:

Data compilation, organization and entry into tabular relational databases, or geographic information systems.Map creation using ESRI products.Spatial analysis to address conservation issues. May be simple one-off analysis with map production, or may including building repeatable modeling processes.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience maintaining and populating databases and manual files.Experience producing maps and/or other graphic products and reports.Experience with ESRI ArcGIS products, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and using the Internet.Enrollment or recent graduate in a post high school level program in geography, biology, ecology, social sciences, or related field.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Performing administrative duties emphasizing detail-oriented and numerical tasks including data entryDatabase and computer spatial or tabular based management skills including managing, maintaining and populating databases. Have demonstrated ability to communicate with colleagues to produce a collaborative project outcome.Understanding of ecological principles

 

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION:

This is a full-time, short-term position with a 10-week employment duration beginning June 8, 2015.
