Job Duties:
The Data Collection Technician inspects and compiles data on power lines, electric utility equipment, and telecommunication facilities attached to utility owned facilities in the right-of-way. The Technician uses a field computer linked with a GPS unit to record data at each utility facility. The position is 100% outdoors and requires hiking from pole to pole (including underground equipment and metering facilities) with all pertinent equipment including (but not limited to): computer, GPS unit, digital camera, and rangefinder. DRG provides complete training of specific task needs for the position.
Qualifications:
Strong Comfort Level with Computers. Desire to work outdoors. Able to travel or relocate to future out-of-state job locations preferred. Able to read, interpret, and follow maps. Able to read compass bearings. Able to read and interpret construction assemblies or technical schemas. Able to work independently and in a team. Possess a high attention to detail. Able to stand, walk, climb in urban / rugged environments for up to 10 hours per day. Able to work in all weather conditions. Able to work consistent overtime hours as needed. Able to safely operate a vehicle or pickup truck. Strong inclination for technology and ability to troubleshoot technical issues in the field. Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft products — highly tech savvy and GIS degree is a plus. Valid driver’s license required. GPS experience, Electric utility, telecommunication experience, ACAD, ArcGIS, or other ESRI software experience is a plus.
