GIS Technician Intern

Duties will include (list is not comprehensive):

• Collection, post-processing/correction, and conversion to GIS of physical infrastructure features of the City using Trimble GeoXH global positioning system (GPS).
• Create maps and exhibits as needed by City departments, partners, and the public.
• Assist GIS Technician with field work which may include surveying, inspection, coordination with contractors and other departments, etc.
• Scanning plan sets & project files.

Qualifications:

• Candidates should be enrolled in an associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree in geography, forestry, urban planning, civil engineering or similar program.  Alternatively, the candidate may hold one of these degrees.
• Candidates should have demonstrated experience with ESRI ArcGIS 10.2 software, as well as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Experience with the following is a plus:  GPS Unit, Geodatabase experience, ARCGIS Online, and file conversion to ESRI formats.
• Candidates must be detail-oriented and have excellent organizational skills, possess strong oral and written communication skills, and must be reliable and able to work independently.
• Candidates must have the ability to problem solve in the field with common sense and efficiency.
• Candidates must have the ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
