GIS Coordinator

Description:

The City of Shoreview is accepting applications for a full-time GIS Coordinator. This position performs all of the GIS related duties for the Public Works Department including general user support, with significant focus in the areas of ArcGIS application development, asset management, web-based application development, database administration, and optimization and research. This position is integral to public works decision-making and how the built environment is managed.

Duties:

• Develop, expand, and maintain Public Works GIS database and related systems using AutoCAD, ArcInfo/ArcView, Softdesk, and ESRI software.
• Perform data collection from various sources such as in the field, from as-builts, and from other sources. Enter/review/update information in databases. 
• Compile data and prepare maps and other graphic representations and depictions of City properties, infrastructure features, including streets, water and sewer lines, fire hydrants, street lights, zoning classifications, and future projected land uses. 
• Document and maintain documentation of GIS applications and procedures.
• Design, establish and maintain databases related to GIS systems and ensure system security.
• Evaluate and recommend hardware and software purchases and upgrades as needed.
• Coordinate the sharing of GIS information with other City departments.
• Participate in committees and user groups.
• Work effectively with outside contractors, vendors, the public, and staff.
• Other special projects and duties as assigned.

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Geography, or related field
• 2 years GIS experience with AutoCAD and ArcInfo/ArcView
• Valid drivers license and satisfactory motor vehicle report
