Job Duties:

  • Preparing reports, maps, and GIS data.
  • Performing a variety of assignments, requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
  • Assist with organizing and updating state-wide utility, environmental, municipal, and other data sets.
  • Identify, evaluate, and obtain external datasets for inclusion in the PSC state-wide geospatial database.
  • Create maps for other staff members to be used in the analysis of a variety of topics including, rates comparison, environmental review, service territory extents, and general location maps showing municipal boundaries.
  • Modify, correct, and update existing shapefiles using the most-recent ArcMap version (currently 10.3).
  • Creating ArcReader maps as well as Google Earth maps for staff analysis of projects.
  • Creating Access databases to manage comments for large projects.
  • Assist staff with performing environmental review and analysis for Commission dockets.
  • Assist with reviewing Commission records for information accuracy and retention purposes.

Applicants must have a valid driver’s license or be able to provide their own transportation.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Formal training or skill in using ESRI GIS software including ArcGIS for Desktop and ArcGIS for Server, Microsoft Windows (including Access), general office software, a good understanding of Python programing language and a familiarity with C# and SQL. We prefer knowledge of HTML5, CSS and JavaScript and Esri’s JavaScript API and Dojo especially relating to the design of spatial web applications. Able to communicate and interact effectively and successfully with supervisors and other staff.

The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Land Survey, Environmental Studies, or related field or equivalent work experience. However, students (graduate or undergraduate) currently enrolled at an accredited university pursuing a degree in a relevant field are encouraged to apply.
