Job Summary:
These student hourly positions will digitize historical landcover maps of Wisconsin counties using GIS and other tools. This will involve digitizing polygons and adding attributes. The work will contribute to an ecological study of past forest change and fire occurrence in Wisconsin in the early 1900s and will be supervised by a GIS Specialist.
Knowledge/Experience Required:
Coursework in GIS and experience with ESRI ArcGIS. Must also be familiar with both raster and vector data manipulation in addition to creating and editing shapefiles. The applicant must be a student (continuing in Fall 2015) to qualify as a student hourly.
Additional Knowledge/Experience Desired:
Georeferencing experience in addition to programming/scripting skills are highly desired. An understanding in GIS topology is also desired. Additional experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Access is also beneficial.
Positions are full-time for summer 2015 and may continue part-time through fall 2015 semester. (Only a student hourly position is available, not an RA/PA, LTE).
