Job Description:
To develop and maintain computer based GIS data; support GIS user needs; develop maps and graphics as needed; provide technical GIS software related support.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems or other related fields and/or experience in maintenance of GIS data sets used in municipal and county government applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, GIS, Geography or related field. One to three years’ experience. Experience using county datasets.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Current practices, procedures, and techniques used in GIS operations; computer aided drafting and design and graphics; spreadsheet and word processing programs; analytical processes and mathematical formulas used in surveying, cartography and photogrammetry; use of GPS and other related field equipment; ability to read plans, plats and deeds; understanding of land records and survey techniques; maintaining records and written reports; verbal and written communication; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; ability to provide customer service to a variety of clients; strong organizational skills; ability to work independently.
Technological Skill Requirements:
Operation of personal and mini-computer systems; operation of GIS related software, specifically AutoCAD, ArcGIS, ArcView and Arc/Info. Working knowledge of geometry and ability to recognize and manipulate circles, polygons and shape files.
