Job Duties:

As the Urban and Regional Planning Unit Supervisor in a complex urban highway region, this position is responsible for utilizing transportation planning, policy analysis and public administration methods and principles. This position is responsible for leading a team to conduct analyses on a broad range of major transportation issues, including but not limited to State trunk highway data inventory and crash history analysis, land use, alternatives to highway investments and transportation impact analyses for consideration in Department policies, plans, projects, programs and procedures.

This incumbent is responsible for transportation planning efforts related to programmatic economic development and freight. This supervisor is responsible for working with local units of government to understand their long range economic development, freight and revitalization goals. This position also serves as a liaison in the region between the programmatic Economic Development and freight efforts and the specific developments managed through the Region Development Review team process.

Working as a supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for planning efforts involving multi-modal infrastructure initiatives that support or serve as alternatives to highway investments. These activities include administering transit, bicycle and pedestrian, harbor, airport, and freight and Intelligent Vehicle Highway System infrastructure initiatives in S.E. Wisconsin. The position is also responsible for coordination of regional, corridor and work site based Travel Demand Management (TDM) programs including technical assistance to employers affected by Clean Air Act Amendments requirements.
