Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Manager of Geographic Information Systems, this position performs a wide variety of moderately complex to difficult tasks in connection with Geographical Information Services (GIS) implementation and maintenance. Assists in the design, development and maintenance of the County’s GIS database and its various applications including associated services and maps. Coordinates quality assurance procedures for major initiatives. Evaluates requests for GIS services and utilizes GIS tools in an enterprise environment including web and map services. Maintains and updates system documentation and ensures procedures are executed properly and in a timely manner. Consults with senior level staff and department managers as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography; Geographic Information Systems; Geomatrics; Surveying; Geology; Regional or Urban Planning; Landscape Architecture; Environment Studies; Ecology; or Earth Science IS REQUIRED. (Must provide original college/university transcript at time of interview)*

Two (2) years of full-time work experience as a GIS Analyst, Geospatial Analyst or Cartographer utilizing GIS software IS REQUIRED.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Skill with GIS software as an editing, plotting and analysis tool.
- Thorough knowledge of ESRI software as an editing, plotting and analysis tool.
- Skill utilizing quality control techniques such as topology, domains and versioned editing.
- Thorough knowledge of the Javascript Api as it relates to ESRI web mapping applications.
- Strong knowledge of ESRI’s ArcGIS online.
- Ability to analyze basic system related problems and recommend a corrective plan of action.
- Ability to learn the use and application of new software.
- Knowledge of remote sensing, image processing, computer programming, cartography, drafting, graphics, surveying and Internet/Intranet.
- Ability to function independently and under minimal supervision to effectively carry out all assignments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow through on problems until successful completion.
