DATCP currently has an opening for an Environmental Analysis & Review Specialist in our Land and Water Resources Bureau.

Job Duties:   

Located within the Nutrient Management and Water Quality Section of the Land and Water Resource Bureau, this position performs environmental analysis and review related to department programs administered under chapters 91, 92 and 93, Stats.  Major responsibilities include: developing, awarding and overseeing producer-led Watershed organization and Nutrient Management Farmer Education grant contracts; quality controlling individual grant projects; handling all facets of nutrient management planning and compliance with state conservation standards, Farmland Preservation Program implementation, etc. This position will coordination work with other section staff, seeking appropriate guidance to address new, challenging, or complex issues.


Special Notes:   

  • A valid WI driver’s license or the ability to provide one’s own transportation for work purposes is required.
  • Considerable in-state travel is required.
  • Being presumptively qualified as a nutrient management planner based on criteria in ATCP 50.48 or able to be qualified after assuming the position.
  • A criminal background check will be conducted on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.

 


Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   

  • Strong Organizational and program management skills including the ability to establish priorities, organize workloads, manage grants and track data. 
  • Knowledge of education and training program development, including needs assessment, evaluation methods, and performance measurement techniques. 
  • Effective written and oral communication, with a capacity to communicate scientific and technical information as it relates to conservation. 
  • Knowledge of data analysis techniques, data base management and report preparation. 
  • Considerable knowledge of soil and water conservation science, technical standards, principles and practices, including nutrient management. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop networks with a variety of government and outside agency representatives. 
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment. 
  • Ability to use computer programs including Microsoft Office Software, and working knowledge of geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related software.
