Lidar Analyst

Continental Mapping Consultants is a rapidly growing geospatial data services firm headquartered in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin (suburban Madison), with branch offices in Indianapolis, IN, St. Louis, MO, and Kansas City, KS. We are currently looking to fill a Lidar Analyst position, preferably in our Sun Prairie office but will consider candidates in any of our offices.

Lidar Analyst

The primary responsibility of the Lidar Analyst is to provide geospatial information gathered from airborne and mobile systems to create global geospatial image and vector products utilizing GeoCue, Terrasolid, LP360 and a variety of other LiDAR and GIS tools and software applications.  Responsibilities include determining precise location, features and dimensions of objects and working directly with clients and team members in researching, evaluating, analyzing and interpreting data from multiple sources to produce current and finished geospatial intelligence products, within specifications and budget.  Provide innovative solutions to improve efficiencies utilizing new technologies, software and approaches.

Position Requirements

• Education, training and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a geospatial area of study with 3-5 years of directly related experience processing and editing LiDAR or a combination of education and experience equivalent to this. Coursework should be supplemented with word processing, spreadsheets, communications and geospatial disciplines.
• Knowledge and understanding of airborne and mobile LiDAR acquisition and processing, photogrammetry and geospatial data development workflows.
• Knowledge and understanding of terrestrial and mobile terrestrial acquisition and processing.
• Working knowledge of LiDAR calibration, point classification, flight planning, breakline and feature extraction and QA/QC methods used with LiDAR data.
• Ability and experience to work in 3D stereocompilation environment.
• Assist the production team in achieving technical quality standards while meeting production schedules
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, particularly strong verbal communication and listening skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• A high degree of analytical skill and attention to detail.
• Thorough knowledge of GeoCue and Terrasolid suite of software.
• Working knowledge of LP360, DAT/EM Summit Evolution, TopoDOT, MicroStation V8 (V8i) and/or AutoCAD.
