Natural Resource Technology, Inc. (NRT)  is seeking a candidate with 0 to 3 years GIS experience based out of our Milwaukee, Wisconsin office. This position presents the opportunity to participate in NRT’s use of GIS for complex environmental consulting and engineering projects.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Perform data visualizations, GIS data validation, and map production in support of environmental design, evaluation, and permitting processes.
  • Render, analyze, and manipulate geospatial data from various sources to design and produce accurate 2D and 3D maps, models, and geospatial representations to create client deliverables in the form of electronic and hardcopy maps, reports, and work-products.
  • Interpret, convert, and digitize engineered CAD drawings and current/historical aerial and satellite imagery for GIS database development.
  • Collaborate with project managers and staff to provide technical project support.
  • Support GPS operations through spatial data management practices.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams for on-going process improvement, methods, productivity, and quality assurance.
  • Work with relational databases to integrate and query geographic data within a proprietary database management system.

 Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Esri ArcGIS 10.x experience required.
  • Knowledge of relational database management systems (e.g., MS Access).
  • Mapping and cartographic principles/practices including coordinate systems, geographic transformations, scale, map design, and data management.
  • Additional experience of benefit: ArcGIS Server, GPS data collection (e.g., Trimble Pathfinder Office, TerraSync); Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, SQL Server, EnviroData, Python, Hypack, AutoCAD Map 3D or Civil 3D; Surveying and/or environmental sample collection.

 Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/BA Geography, Cartography, Environmental Science, Natural Resources or related field with 0 to 3 years GIS experience (may have a similar education and experience combination). Certificate in GIS desirable.
  • Ability to perform duties independently under general to minimal supervision within specific assignments. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to follow-through with a strong attention to detail and logical organization for all position duties.
  • Ability  to balance multiple and parallel projects in a dynamic team-based environment.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and demonstrated customer service abilities.
