Under the direction of the Land Information Officer, the Technical Support Specialist represents a variety of positions of similar responsibility level engaged in providing installation, configuration, maintenance, and technical support for Dunn County’s Information Technology Systems including mainframe, servers, workstations, networks, peripherals, and software on various information processing systems.
Essential Duties
- Assist the Land Information Officer within maintenance and development of various GIS datasets and metadata; involving editing, updating and maintaining data into specific formats and schemas.
- Assist the Land Information Section with E911 and rural addressing duties.
- Assist the Real Property Lister with the researching and resolving of issues with problem and unidentified tax parcels, including land splits, ownership transfers and other related land records duties as needed.
- Assist County Departments with technical support and troubleshooting GIS related issues.
Essential knowledge and specialized subject knowledge required to perform the essential functions of the job:
- Knowledge of the developments, trends, best practices and procedures of GIS and Land Information operations.
- Knowledge of the operating systems, software, and equipment used in the administration, management and development of land information and GIS systems
- Knowledge of the procedures and method used designing, analyzing and administering information technology and land systems.
- Theory, development, hardware and software, applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Cartographic principles and methods
- Statistics and spatial data analysis
- Internet applications using GIS
- GIS software and applications
- Database management, design, implementation and maintenance
- Legal descriptions of property ownership
- Knowledge of general county administrative policies and procedures.
- Understanding of the functions and organizational structure of the County
Required Work Experience in Addition to Formal Education/Training:
Requires a minimum of 2 years previous GIS, networking or directly related experience. Additional education can be substituted for experience requirements on a 1:1 basis or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
