American Conservation Experience, a nationwide Non-Profit Conservation Corps, in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Eastern States Field Office is seeking ONE GIS Specialist Intern to dedicate a minimum of 16 weeks to process a withdrawal relinquishment in support of the Wyoming State Office.
A GIS Intern position in the NSD would produce data sets for the initiation of the Appalachian Basin Resource Management Plan (RMP), develop corporate and district data sets. NSD has outlined the scope of data required for the RMP and this position would support the development of required data sets necessary for the initial phase of the RMP. Intern would work with Lands and Realty intern to map out trespass issues and ownership claims as they are researched and verified by realty intern. Intern would also assist as natural resources continues to work on their external media strategy and develop technologies that are depended on GIS developments.
The GIS Intern would work directly with all members of NSD’s Natural Resources and Mineral Teams, and with State Office lead staff in Cadastral and Geospatial Imaging. Intern will also work with the Eastern States GIS Coordinator on state and national issues and will have contact with local, county, and state GIS staff and commercial contractors.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a minimum of or in progress of an undergraduate degree in Geography, Conservation Environmental Sciences, Geospatial Imaging, Wildlife Biology, Land Resources, Biology, Geology, Physical Sciences, or other related discipline appropriate to the position. A combination of relevant education and appropriate experience is also acceptable.
