Summary

Responsible for assigning new physical addresses, correcting pre-existing erroneous physical addresses, maintaining the physical address database and working with the townships and other agencies concerning road name issues. Assists in computer mapping by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

Includes the following, but are not limited to:

  • Makes updates to Physical Address Maps, E-911 Mapping, GIS. Parcel Maps and other mapping as needed.
  • Produces maps both from plotter and copy machines, and assists the general public.
  • Research information in survey, property listing, zoning, register of deeds and other departments in order to maintain and preserve documentation essential to the perpetuation of the Public Land Survey System.
  • Assists other Land Information Systems staff with duties that relate to property listing, tax deed, surveying, GIS and land records.
  • Review applications for Physical Addresses and assigns the appropriate number. Review Certified Survey Maps and Subdivision Plats for possible physical address problems and road name issues.
  • Coordinates the Physical Address Program with the E-911 system and land records. Provides general information concerning the Physical Address Program to the public and provides reports to individuals and townships as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise two (2) limited term employees (LTE).

Supervision Received

Employee receives guidance and oversight by supervisor on a regular basis, works alone on routine matters. Supervision is received from the LIS Administrator who reviews work through observation on the job and through evaluation of results obtained.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experienced in the use of CAD, Coordinate Geometry and GIS software that relates to surveying and mapping practices and understandings of basic computer skills.
  • Ability to interpret survey maps, plats and legal descriptions.
