Lead and administer the Department of Transportation’s Airports GIS Program! This Airport GIS Program Manager position will use GIS data sets to support the statewide airport improvement program. This position produces products and services that directly contribute to improving the safety and preservation of our air transportation infrastructure by providing a comprehensive mechanism to inventory, analyze, present and manage airport facility and aviation system data. 

Job Duties   

The Airport GIS Program Manager will use technical GIS skills to administer the bureau’s Airport GIS Program. This position will ensure airport safety through managing a wide variety of critical airport data and technical system applications using airport GIS technology, CAD and other related tools. Airport projects involve multi-platform requirements and integration of IT systems. 

This position will promote the standardization of current bureau applications and act as a liaison in the design of complex programs using ArcGIS software, AutoCAD, Microstation, Google Earth, web mapping services and relational database management systems such as Microsoft Access and Oracle. While the Airport GIS Program projects have an air-transportation focus, projects may utilize linear reference methods, location based services, spatial ETL (extract, transform and load) and other standardized processes.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   

 

  • Knowledge of GIS technologies used for data management and development including: ArcGIS desktop, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server, and ArcIMS.
  • Knowledge of practices in GIS including technology, concepts, techniques, related databases and catography
  • Knowledge of relational database models and systems such as MS Access, Oracle, DB2 and SQL
  • Knowledge and skill in interpreting construction plans, sub-division plats, certified survey maps and other legal description/ documentation
  • Knowledge of reading and interpreting blueprints: interpolation of field data and information from land surveys and performance of drafting and CADDS
  • Knowledge and skill in using computer aided design tools such as Bentley Microstation v8i, Bentley Map, AutoCAD 2014, etc.
  • Knowledge of survey instruments such as GPS equipment
