Job Description:

Under general supervision and within a team setting, this position provides GIS and real estate research services primarily to the real estate section as well as other sections within the Bureau of Facilities and Lands. This position will interpret legal description, digitize parcels from legal descriptions, evaluate title and boundary management issues, assist with the development and writing of complicated land parcel descriptions for large acreage transactions and provide assistance to staff on matters related to real estate closings, title review and ownership disputes. This position will also provide support for both spatial and tabular databases maintained within the Bureau of Facilities and Lands. This position will provide GIS services for a variety of clients both internal and external to the agency. 

Job Duties:

40%

  • Provides assistance to the Real Estate section, as well as to other sections within the Bureau of Facilities and Lands
  • Research of real estate transactions to resolve ownership disputes and management issues 
  • Review existing legal descriptions for accuracy and draft legal descriptions as needed 
  • Provide general assistance to other real estate staff as needed.

30%

  • Provide GIS services to the Real Estate section, as well as other sections within the Bureau of Facilities and Lands as needed
  • For real estate transaction and realty management needs provide the following:
  • Standardized cartographic production 
  • Spatial analysis
  • Spatial data creation
  • Spatial data editing

25%

  • Work with the Facilities and Lands database manager to update and maintain spatial and tabular databases. 
  • Perform document research as related to real estate management 
  • Perform tabular data entry for legacy information 
  • Provide assistance in spatial and tabular dataset creation as needed

5%

  • Other work as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

The position requires training, experience and good technical abilities working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software. The position requires experience and good technical abilities working in a relational database format for spatial and tabular data management. Experience in the understanding and interpretation of real estate legal descriptions is preferred. Must have the ability to work well with a wide range of clients as well as proven time management ability, including the ability to prioritize a varied workload.
