Under general supervision in the Land Conservation Division of the Dane County Land & Water Resources Department, this position will provide assistance reviewing and updating conservation practices, conservation plans and nutrient management plans for watershed projects with duties including: review files, collect implementation information, model results, geolocate practices and other related work activities. Work activities will be primarily focused in the Pleasant Valley Watershed with some work on the Yahara River Watershed. Provide assistance reviewing and assessing conservation practices and nutrient management plans. Utilize applicable computer programs to document conservation practices and nutrient management plans.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Any combination of training or experience in natural resources, conservation, soils or agronomy work. Working towards or have a degree in natural resources, conservation, agronomy, soils or related field. LICENSES:Must be 18 years or older and have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITITES: Knowledge of computer databases and GIS software systems. Knowledge of nutrient management practices and SNAP Plus. Knowledge of farm operations. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ability to work in a team environment and independently.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work at a desk in an office setting with a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to traverse a wide variety of field conditions and carry equipment common for the position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position works in an office setting and also entails field work.

OTHER INFORMATION: Limited term position with an anticipated start date of mid-May with funding through September.
