Job Summary:
This position exists to perform geospatial data analysis, cartography, and other related graphics and processing tasks for the DNR’s County Geologic Atlas projects. This position assists the Ecological and Water Resources Division’s groundwater resources management capabilities and to support the County Geologic Atlas program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in geography, GIS, cartography, or natural resources OR
- Associate’s degree or certificate in a related field with at least two years of full time experience in a production-oriented GIS position required qualifications AND
- Proficiency with ESRI ArcMap software, sufficient to execute commands with minimal oversight.
- Knowledge of cartography to create effective maps and support the development of publication-quality products.
- Knowledge of Adobe graphics software, especially Illustrator, sufficient to create and edit maps and graphical material.
- Proficiency with MS Office software including Word, Excel, and Access, and the demonstrated ability to learn and apply other DNR office software quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new software and new techniques to keep abreast of new developments and be able to use new software in the rapidly changing field of geospatial data processing.
- Ability to communicate respectfully with other team members and project workers, and must have both the ability to take direction and initiative on projects and assignments.
- Ability to communicate with internal and external customers of varying technical backgrounds, including those who may not have GIS technical backgrounds.
- Ability to understand and maintain project priorities, and work with supervisors or project leaders to effectively resolve problems.
