LTSB is accepting applications to recruit a skilled and enthusiastic GIS Analyst on its Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Team. LTSB strives to be a leader in state agency GIS services. Our mission is to provide timely, professional GIS services to the Wisconsin Legislature and citizens of the great State of Wisconsin. Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.
Position Description
The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of the concepts and techniques involved in performing geographic analysis, along with strong cartographic and presentation skills. You should be able to use current GIS software and techniques to help our customers realize the benefits of GIS. Candidates should be able to deliver GIS products including maps, data, and reports to clients in a timely manner. Candidates should be comfortable troubleshooting GIS hardware and software, have strong customer service skills, and the desire to teach basic GIS skills to our customers.
The GIS Analyst position will be assigned to various project teams. We are interested in people that work well independently and in a team environment. This position will interact directly with all of LTSB’s teams, legislators, legislative staff, local officials, other state and federal agencies, and the general public. This position will report directly to the GIS Manager.
This recruitment is directed to persons who are legally authorized to work in the United States and who will not require employment visa sponsorship now or in the future. A background check will be conducted on any finalist prior to an offer of employment.
Knowledge/Experience Required
- Degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science or a related field
- 1 – 2 years of experience using GIS software and data (preferably ESRI products)
- Strong cartographic skills
- GIS web and application development aptitude and/or experience
- Training or experience working with ArcGIS Server or GeoServer
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a nonpartisan environment
- Commitment to excellent customer service
