As a GIS Web and Application Developer, you will provide leadership and programming services to support the web and application development of the Watershed Health Assessment Framework (WHAF), a geospatial application. You will work closely DNR Stream Habitat Program (SHP) staff to determine user requirements, design, develop, test, and deploy high quality web services and specific applications within the WHAF for internal and external use.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:

  • This position requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience developing and deploying web GIS applications using geospatial techniques and data. Experience must include the following:
  • ESRI suite of tools and API’s, especially ESRI JavaScript API.
  • Application development experience with JavaScript and Python.
  • Web technologies, like JQuery, JSON, HTML, and CSS.

A Master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field may substitute for three years of experience, related Bachelor’s degree may substitute for two years, or related Associate’s degree may substitute for one year.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building web applications that deliver information for natural resource or ecosystem management.
  • Knowledge and experience in natural resource management, especially as it relates to ecosystem science and systems-level thinking and approaches.
  • Experience with GIS data used in natural resource fields. Knowledge and experience with user interface and user experience design for web applications.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring and publishing spatial data services using ESRI ArcGIS Server and related products.
  • Experience and aptitude for working within a team on a highly visible, evolving product.
  • Excellent digital cartographic skills.
  • Experience using web technologies such as HTML5, JQuery, and REST Services.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
