Job Description:
Continental Mapping is currently seeking a Survey & Mapping Project Manager. This position can be based out of any of our offices: Sun Prairie (Madison) WI, Lenexa (Kansas City) KS, or St, Louis MO. Responsibilities for this position will include management of multiple programs and projects to meet schedules, quality, and profitability goals. The Survey and Mapping Project Manager will work within our Project Management Office (PMO) and work closely with his or her counterpart Survey Account Manager and Operations Survey Manager. The Survey and Mapping Project Manager is responsible for client development and maintenance, technical quality, proposals and estimating coordination, negotiating scope and fees, and delivery of survey and mapping projects. Qualified candidates must have proven project management skills in survey and mapping, with specific expertise in one or more of the following: land survey, hydrographic survey, photogrammetry, aerial/mobile/static laser scanning/lidar. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience managing federal survey and mapping IDIQ type contracts and/or state Department of Transportation (DOT) survey and/or mapping contracts.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
- Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
- Confers with project staff to outline work-plan and to assign duties, responsibilities and scope of authority.
- Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
- Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
- Prepared project reports for management, client or others.
- Client communications and presentations.
- Manage and control each project throughout its lifecycle.
Non-Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate program activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
- Review contractual and regulatory requirements of contracts, ensuring compliance.
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior PMO team members.

Experience and Education:

Education, training and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in project management, geospatial area of study or similar field with 10+ years of directly related experience or an associate’s degree 13+ years of directly related experience or a combination of education and experience equivalent to this.
- Bachelor’s degree in Land Survey, Engineering, Photogrammetry, Geography, or related geospatial or scientific field or equivalent professional experience perferred
- Experience in leading teams or in a supervisory capacity.
- Project management experience from inception to completion.
- Experience in photogrammetry and geospatial data development workflows.
- Must hold or working toward PMP credential.
- ASPRS CP or CMS certification or PLS preferred.
- Minimum five years of job related experience.
- A minimum of 5 years survey and mapping project management experience with federal clients such as USACE, DOE, DHS, USGS or State DOT.
- Significant experience with one or more US federal agency geospatial programs to include an understanding of proposal development and/or contracting procedures.
- Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and may require the ability to have or obtain and maintain and U.S. Government Security Clearance.
Preference given to candidates with the following:
- Current state Land Survey licensure
- Certified Federal Surveyor (CFED)
- PMP, or demonstrated, relevantprogram management experience
- Relevant understanding of hybrid survey and mapping workflows that involve survey, terrestrial, mobile, and aerial technologies for federal and state government clients.
