Job Description:
In this position, the co-op would actively participate in the support of Kohler Company’s continued domestic and international growth by assisting GIS associates in data maintenance, desktop
studies, data analysis, location analytics and problem solving for business units. The co-op would participate, contribute and provide other routine technical support for all initiatives as requested.
Job Duties:
- Assist in the maintenance and development of Kohler’s GIS, such as creating, editing and maintaining geographic information system layers using ESRI GIS technology; performing data analysis using GIS technologies; and producing a wide variety of maps, technical reports and related exhibits.
- Performs data research for specific project’s needs.
- Familiarity with research methods, including the use of databases, library resources, the internet, archives and special collections or other reference materials is needed.
- Develops an understanding of basic GIS procedures and techniques specific to geodatabase maintenance through training and experience for Kohler facilities world-wide.
- Uses discipline specific software as required in support of the GIS team projects. Ability to assist in mining large and complex geospatial datasets and determining trends.
Skills & Requirements:
- An undergraduate degree (achieved or in-process) with experience and/or coursework in data analysis, GIS, geography, spatial analysis, statistics, cartography, and/or programming.
- Basic understanding in ESRI ArcGIS 10.x
- Geodatabase experience, including creation of domains, relationships and data model development desired.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when editing data and topology.
- Experience using relational databases – e.g. SQL Server.
- Understanding of concepts including projections, datums, and coordinate systems.
- Possess excellent writing and verbal communications skills.
- Exposure and/or experience with AutoCAD systems and file conversion to GIS formats desired.
- Work well independently and in collaboration with others.
- Desire to provide outstanding quality spatial data services to a variety of business units.
- Functional knowledge of MS office products required.
- Strong analytical skills required.
- Ability to simultaneously manage and prioritize multiple requests required.
