Job Description & Duties:

The Northeastern States District office of the Bureau of Land Management in Milwaukee WI is seeking an intern to assist with creating spatial datasets that identify lands in northern Minnesota that may be returned to the Red Lake Band of the Minnesota Chippewa.  Another task is the creation of a data set of the Land Utilization (LU) projects in Maryland, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.  LU lands are marginal lands that the Federal government purchased during the Depression to keep them from further degradation.  These lands were later disposed of to the states for parks, state forests and game lands but retain some percentage of Federal mineral ownership.
