Job Description:
The National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois is currently seeking a Coordinator to lead all education, training and outreach efforts for the CyberGIS Center for Advanced Digital and Spatial Studies and to collaborate with and contribute to other educational and outreach programs at NCSA.
Responsibilities:
• Lead development and delivery of the CyberGIS Center training and documentation program targeted at current and potential users of cyberGIS resources and services.
• Serve as an expert in training and documentation, providing reports, analysis, information and recommendations to the Director of the CyberGIS Center.
• Ensure timely delivery of high quality learning materials and documentation.
• Work both independently and in a collaborative team environment, contribute instructional design expertise to design and develop face-to-face and online education materials.
• Explore, analyze, evaluate and develop applications of new technologies for training and documentation.
• Foster relationships with subject-matter experts to create courses that achieve course objectives and promote student success.
• Coordinate educational efforts with other education programs and initiatives at NCSA, including those led by the Research and Education Directorate and the Scientific Software and Applications Division.
• Work with faculty across campus, including the Computational Science and Engineering program and other NCSA education and training staff to establish opportunities for presenting developed materials within existing campus courses.
• Represent the CyberGIS Center in interaction with and presentation to existing or prospective collaborative academic or industrial partners. Prepare or oversee preparation of presentation materials covering the Center’s activities for use in these and other presentations by CyberGIS staff.
• Lead efforts in identifying, exploring, recommending and developing outside collaborative projects and funding opportunities for the CyberGIS Center as a whole, including significant projects beyond the scope of internal funding constraints. Take a lead role or participate in preparing proposals for such projects. Collaborate with NCSA staff on related funding opportunities and needed.
Education & Experience
Education:
• BA/BS degree in training/development, education or other related field (Geography/GIS) required. Alternate degree fields may be considered/accepted if accompanied by equivalent experience (depending on nature and depth of experience as it relates to current NCSA technologies).
Required Experience:
• 3 years’ experience with the application of GIS technologies and applications; 1 year experience externally representing public or private organizations.
Preferred Experience:
• Knowledge of high performance computing and communications technologies. Experience in proposal writing.
