Job Description:

HERE is looking for Operations Engineer to join a small software engineering and research support team and help grow the autonomous driving map. You will help define, prototype, distribute, and scale-up processes that support creation and quality assurance of that map. This position needs a generalist. A broad range of experience, with proven ability to learn new skills and work across teams is essential.

Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with engineering leads and data consumers to understand and translate data requirements
  • Build, monitor, and evaluate geospatial technical workflow processes.
  • Develop and deliver geospatial technical workflow documentation and training
  • Provide general technical expertise for geospatial data
  • Collect and manage feedback from stakeholders to inform future system design iterations
  • Work with our quality and accuracy teams to understand data quality issues
  • Develop and/or utilize algorithms to automate the analysis of geographic data
  • Conduct specialized research, compile data, write reports

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a geospatial or computer or physical sciences related field
  • 3+ years of industry experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in excel
  • Demonstrated proficiency in either advanced geospatial concepts with basic experience in coding or demonstrated proficiency in coding with basic experience in geospatial concepts
  • Preferred languages (python, Java, C++)
  • Understanding of cartography including GPS positioning, projected and geographic coordinate systems, photogrammetry, LiDAR and mobile mapping
  • Understanding of databases and SQL (spatial databases is a plus)
  • An understanding of geographic projections, datums, and appropriate use of transformations
  • Desire to learn about terrestrial LiDAR, SLAM, SfM, sensor fusion, and/or combined GPS/IMU technologies
  • Experience working within Agile Scrum teams is a plus
  • A passion for working with new technologies to build the next-generation of map
  • Attention to detail, data accuracy and quality of output
  • Ability to work effectively with fine numerical details and troubleshoot data errors and problems
  • Actively seeks opportunities for process improvement
  • Positive team player, flexible to changing priorities
  • Self-directed with strong initiative
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
