We are currently searching for a Research Scientist to work with our Field Discovery Team in Seymour, Illinois

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and conduct research trials with in-depth knowledge of agronomic factors for development of new and/or EPA registered products. Projects may include research on new use patterns, product development, and potential label expansion per the business plan in collaboration with others.
  • Establish, manage, and evaluate trials involving herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, biologicals and plant health products. Includes trial protocol development, trial setup – in field, applications, data entry, summarization and communication.
  • Using precision ag tools for geospatial collection of data, analysis of yield monitor raw data, use of environmental sensors for collection of field and greenhouse data and design of geospatial experiments.
  • Maintain high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature. Participates in development of patent applications. May participate in scientific conferences and contribute to scientific journals.
  • May act as spokesperson on corporate research and development and advise management on research results.
  • Assisting in the management of interns.
  • Communicating with and actively supporting Ag Research Center Scientists and Midwest Field Development Team.
  • Use professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to solve complex problems in creative and effective ways.

Experience & Education:

  • 1 – 3 years of related field plot experience. Graduate work experience will be considered.
  •  MS, Ph.D. or equivalent

Required Skills:

Required to interact with a large range of internal employees/departments and external customers. Internal contacts include the Business Manager/National FMD Manager, Marketing Management, Product Development Managers, Sales, QA, R&RA, Formulations, Residue Chemistry, ARC Personnel, Research Manager and other FMD Specialists. Spreadsheets, word processing, problem solving, communication, detail oriented, evaluation and interpretation of data, instrument/equipment maintenance and repair. Must have high degree of cooperation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Consistent and dependable work ethic in handling all required tasks. Specialization in Crop Physiology, Agronomy, Weed Science, Plant Pathology, or Entomology.
